Numeros, ecuaciones, hipótesis, supuestos, letras griegas, letras romanas, gráficos, hipérbolas, rectas y curvas.
Si un día vez una clase de economía podes llegar a encontrarte con una monstruosidad así. Notar que nunca dije la palabra, valga la rebundancia, palabras. Porque eso es lo único que va a faltar. Nunca una palabra, ni una coma, ni un punto (no confundirse con la multiplicación o la coma para los decimales). Una ciencia que estudia a las personas pero a través de las matemáticas.
Por éso, un fragmento de una nota de Paul Krugman acerca de la eco que se tendría que venir.

It’s much harder to say where the economics profession goes from here. But what’s almost certain is that economists will have to learn to live with messiness. That is, they will have to acknowledge the importance of irrational and often unpredictable behavior, face up to the often idiosyncratic imperfections of markets and accept that an elegant economic “theory of everything” is a long way off. In practical terms, this will translate into more cautious policy advice — and a reduced willingness to dismantle economic safeguards in the faith that markets will solve all problems.

Hay otro fragmento que me hace acordar al Godfather:

En el Godfather 1, hay una escena donde Pete Clemenza habla con Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) y le dice: "These things gotta happen every fiver years or so-ten years- helps get rid of the bad blood. Been ten years since the last one. You know you gotta stop´em at the beginning, like they shoulda stopped Hitler at Munich"
